Party Hacks

Kevin Drum raises a great question. There really isn't a defensible reason for reporters to actively seek out the opinions of people whose opinions are utterly useless.

Comments:
I agree. I read this on the site when he posted it and it actually struck me silent for a minute. Why on Earth would any reporter who actually wanted the truth listen to these people. Of course you could always argue that there is no point in attending white house briefings either...

You are absolutely right. And Kav, the White House Press briefings are probably the worst event to attend as a reporter ever.

I can't believe that not more reporters, after McClellan gives another one of those empty, talking-points answers, run out of the room screaming and pulling their hair out. They do have a lot more self-control than I could ever muster.

Hrun,
I am always a little surprised that Mclellen is press secretary. Perhaps I have missed something but whenever I see him his eyes look nervous and shifty, his body language is timid in many cases and I get the distinct impression that he feels out of his depth. I just don't get how this man can be the face of the administration.
